Scheduler
§1 General
Scheduler is one of the three major zones of Zator; includes the tools needed to maintain proper control of your daily activities, including the reminder of those events to be remembered/done every day.
The Zator planning tools distinguish the following types of events:
| Events related to a specific date and time. | |
| Expiry dates | Events related to a specific date. May have a forewarn notice. |
| Pending try | Outstanding matters to do/complete from certain date. They have not deadline or forewarn notice. |
| Events | Events on a regular basis. May have a forewarn notice. There are different types depending on the nature of their frequency. |
In addition to the date and time (in his case), each event may include a concept and a memo
field. The first is a line of text up to 245 characters, which is supposed to contain a summary
of the affair to remember. The memo is a text box to include any auxiliary commentary. Another important concept in the
Zator
planning system is the forewarn time, it's how many days before we want to be notified of the occurrence
of a specified event.
Note: by setting the appropriate option in the initial parameters, may be ordered to Zator
to show at the start, a page (Agenda
)
with a summary of the events that must be remembered in the day, together
with their dates and the distance in days remaining for the event.
Recall that each
zone of Zator can be connected to a different work area.
When you open the scheduler for the first time, the work area is the one used
in the main zone, but this connection can be changed
at any time. The menu for changing the area is in the window's toolbar (Work
area). You can see that in the figure, the example is using the local
work area.
From the initial window, the Scheduler can be accessed through the
corresponding option in the menu bar, or
from the toolbar button
, obtaining the window shown in the figure.
Alongside the planning tools themselves, the planner also includes three trays: Messages Sent; Received
messages and messages waiting delivering of the Zator messaging system (see an
introduction to this service in Send messages).
Figure 1. |
The main zone 1 shows a list of events of the kind referred to by the tab: Appointments, Expiry dates, Pending try or Events. All tabs have a similar design and behaviour; they include the date, the concept, and the number of characters contained in the memo field (----- if it is empty). By clicking on the line of an event, the window 7 displays the contents of the memo field, and the bottom purple line, which indicates <Empty> in the figure, shows the concept of the event noted [1].
§2 Agenda
The initial tab, entitled Agenda, shows a summary of events for the day. The window 2 is a vertical calendar that let scroll quickly through the dates, while the content of the main window (1) is automatically updated with the events corresponding to the day noted in this calendar.
The movements thru this calendar/vertical-menu can be done as usual: by clicking the date directly, with the cursor movement keys, with the buttons 3 to take up/down the cursor, and the vertical scroll mouse wheel. Pressing the right mouse button on the area (2) gives an auxiliary calendar with which it is possible to shift directly to any distant date.
The window above the vertical calendar shows the month and year of the date selected. Simultaneously, the window 4 also shows the complete date (its colour turns purple when selecting the date of the system -today-).
The events shown in the main window (1), who correspond to the date selected, also depend on the state of the forewarn switch, which can be connected or disconnected. His current status is displayed on the signboard 6 and can be changed by clicking the button 5. When are connected (ON) shows the events that occur on the day and those in zone of forewarn. I.e., the distance between the current date and the date of occurrence is equal to or less than the selected forewarn for the event. Rather, when the switch is disconnected (OFF) only show events that are in date.
By clicking with the right mouse button on the main zone (1) gives a context menu that allows some navigation options, and also delete selected event (the creation/modification of events must be done in the tab for its type -Appointment, Expiry dates, Pending or Events-). The deletion can also be done using the keyboard; pressing [Del] erases the event selected by the cursor.
The table below shows the interpretation of the Type column for the events shown in the Agenda.
|
|
Event Pending from 85 days (the number indicates antiquity from the date of their creation). |
| Expiry date with 7 days remaining to its date (shown in the first column). | |
| Expiry date in its date (shown in the first column). | |
| Event remaining 1 days to its date (shown in the first column). | |
| Event in the day of its date (shown in the first column). | |
| Hour and minute of an Appointment in the day shown in the first column (the appointments have not forewarn notice; only are shown those in date). |
[1] Although the headers Date, Type, Remember that and Memo can be resized, the bottom line allows you to quickly view the entire concept if it is longer than the space originally allocated to the column. By right clicking on this bottom line, the concept can by copied to the clipboard.
