Incoming email panel

§1  Receiving e-mail

The incoming email panel lets receive the existing email in the server's inbox, along with some control of their content (in the server). The reception of email can be done in block (Import all button), or in part, keeping only the email that you consider interesting, and deleting others without having to download from the server. For this purpose it can be obtained an extract of the current contents of the server (Inspect button) and then, handle each message individually using the context menu options obtained by right-clicking on any line in panel (each line represents a message in the server).

The options are very simple and self explanatory, so that we will stop only at those that offer some interesting features or not evident. Remember once again, that the imported email (received) is stored in the folder of the item currently selected in dBase. The one whose title is indicated on the bottom line (magenta) of the panel. To change the direction in which the emails must be stored, simply scroll through the dBase to the item in which folder want store the email (for convenience, you can momentarily minimize the panel). In any case, if you store any message in an inappropriate folder, there are options to change the location of the received messages, and even to classify them automatically.

Perhaps it is pertinent to advance here, that the received emails are identified by the letter "R" ("Received"), in the column type ("T"). So, that emails with this letter may be considered in the received folder. Although as we shall see, in principle, Zator does not use distinct folders for emails received; sent; drafts, or outbox.

§2 Options
  • The Recover button, which is enabled when you delete an email from the server, can rescue the deleted messages, but is effective only within the current connection. Consequently, if the connection ends and then is reconnected with the same account, you can not recover the deleted messages  (when the connection is closed, the server permanently deletes the messages marked for deletion).

Note: Gmail users should take into account the aforementioned peculiarities about this service.

  • The context-menu option Open with default application, downloads the selected email in the temporary Zator's folder  (Temp subdirectory of the installation directory) and invokes -if exist- the correct application to open files ending with .eml.

  • The context-menu option Keep this message in a file, provides no end to the name provided by the user, so you must include an .eml ending, to use the file with any application suited for email management.
